Piper Associates
Dental Practice has been established for over seventy
years in Oxted Surrey. Our current team of Surrey dentists
are as committed to the highest possible standards of
service as the original team were all those years ago.
Avoiding dental disease is our dentists' most important aim, and no one is
too young, or too old, to benefit from our preventive approach.
Our team believes in minimal intervention and keeping the maximum amount of healthy tooth substance. Therefore this leads to an absolute minimum active treatment time for the patient and maximum comfort for all concerned. This is very popular with our patients.
All of the dentists in this Surrey dental practice attend
courses on a regular basis so that the latest and safest
techniques are offered; modern dental technology with
traditional standards.
Both dentists are now working on saturdays and our hygienist works on tuesdays & thursdays . Emergency appointments are available the same day if you call first thing in the morning.
Prevention
Latest research connects acute coronary syndrome (ACS) with periodontal or
gum disease. The same bacteria have been linked in the deep pockets of gum
disease and the blood vessels of the heart. It is vitally important to
dislodge these bacteria from deep gum pockets with brushes, corsodyl gel and
other medications. This will stop the bacteria replicating.
Smoking is also a cause of gum disease and heart disease. All these factors
are inter connected and implicated in the imperfect immune response of our
human body to these bacteria.
More to follow on occult caries or hidden decay in teenagers, spotting early
and preventing. More to follow on addicted babies and preventing. More to
follow on baby teeth as markers for adults. More on care homes and the very
elderly and prevention. Watch this space!
We examine all patients at every examination appointment for very early signs of mouth cancer. At this stage it is very treatable. Smoking is a major cause.
We have cut x-ray dose by half as we have purchased a state of the art Kodak Eastman digital system. It gives more diagnostic information, gives less retakes of radiographs, gives a better storage and retrieval system and the results are instantly on screen. As a matter of interest the system costs £10,500.
Neggin has completed a 2 year training diploma course at the Royal College of Surgeons,London for implanting teeth. The proceedure is carried out at our practice and costs £3000.
