Mouth Cancer
is easily curable if caught at an early stage. Hence
it is important to check your mouth regularly and to
have regular check ups with your dentist. If you notice
a mouth ulcer monitor it for 2 weeks. The majority of
ulcers clear on their own without treatment. If the ulcer
is still present get your dentist or doctor to check
it out. It is likely that there will be a simple explanation
or simple treatment will be needed.
At our practice we
generally spot a very early case of mouth cancer every
couple of years. If seen early the treatment is very
successful.
Smoking and heavy drinking
combined increases the risk of developing the condition
by up to 30 times.
At our practice we
always examine the soft tissues for early signs we are
very keen on prevention.
We are keen supporters
of the Mouth Cancer Awareness Week which takes place
annually during November. During this week we offer mouth
cancer examinations free of charge to any member of the
general public.
